02 · About

About Cuddle

Cuddle is an AI-assisted couples coaching app launched in 2024. The product combines research-derived content drawing on the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, daily prompts, a Relationship Assistant for ongoing conversations between partners, and a guided-courses library on communication, intimacy, and recurring conflict patterns.

Cuddle frames itself as a complement to therapy, not a replacement. It is live on iOS and Android, with 20,000+ active couples across the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada.

Cuddle Editorial — the in-house editorial team — researches and writes the platform's articles. Cuddle is in active recruitment for licensed clinical reviewers (LMFT, PsyD, PhD-level) to review content for clinical accuracy before publication; the panel is forming as of May 2026.

04 · Story Angles

Story angles we can support

Areas where Cuddle has direct experience or a substantive perspective. We're happy to provide background or quotes for any of the below. For other angles, ask — and if we can't help, we'll say so honestly.

01

The credibility gap between research and consumer apps

The four-decade body of couples-therapy research from John Gottman and others shapes therapist offices, but rarely makes it intact into consumer apps. Cuddle's perspective on what's missing, and what we've learned trying to publish into that gap.

Format:Email quote or written response.

02

Why Cuddle won’t try to replace therapy

The founder's view on responsible AI in mental health: why complement-to-therapy is a positioning choice rather than a marketing pose, and what it costs in addressable market to hold that line.

Format:Email quote, written response, or phone interview.

03

How Gottman and EFT translate (or don’t) into consumer apps

Established research on couples interventions has had limited translation into consumer-grade tools. Cuddle's perspective on what gets lost, what gets accidentally distorted, and what the field would need to do better.

Format:Written response or email quote.

04

AI in mental health: disclosure, data, and the BetterHelp line

How an AI couples coaching app handles user-facing disclosure, how it should handle data, where the FTC line sits, and what the 2023 BetterHelp settlement means for the next wave of digital health products.

Format:Written response or phone interview.
