How do I connect with my partner in the app?
Step-by-step guide to pairing with your partner using your unique invite code and unlocking shared Premium features.
Introduction
Connecting with your partner in Cuddle is quick and easy. Once paired, you'll be able to share responses, compare quiz results, and see each other's check-ins. If one partner has Premium, you both get access to all Premium features.
Step-by-Step Connection Process
Step 1: One Partner Subscribes (Optional)
While you can both use Cuddle on the free plan, if you want Premium features, only one partner needs to subscribe. The Premium subscription automatically covers both of you once you're connected.
Step 2: Find Your Invite Code
The subscribing partner (or whoever creates their account first) should:
- Open the Cuddle app
- Tap the Profile tab at the bottom
- Look for the heart illustration showing you and your partner
- Tap "Invite Partner" or "Get Invite Code"
- Your unique pairing code will be displayed
Step 3: Share Your Code
Share your invite code with your partner using any method:
- Text message (easiest)
- Messaging apps (WhatsApp, Signal, etc.)
- In person (just read it out loud)
The code is typically 6-8 characters and is case-sensitive.
Step 4: Partner Enters the Code
Your partner should:
- Download Cuddle from the App Store or Google Play
- Complete the initial onboarding
- When prompted to connect with a partner, select "I have a code"
- Enter the invite code exactly as shared
- Tap "Connect"
Step 5: Confirmation
Both partners will receive a notification confirming you're now connected. You'll see:
- Your partner's name and profile in your Profile tab
- Shared activities appear in the Activities feed
- Both partners have Premium access (if one subscribed)
What Happens After Connecting
Shared Features
- Activities Feed: See when your partner completes check-ins, quizzes, or exercises
- Co-Activities: View history of questions and games you've done together
- Comparison Views: Compare quiz results and Relationship Checkup answers side-by-side
- Premium Access: Both partners enjoy Premium features from one subscription
Privacy Note
Your partner will NOT see:
- Individual responses to questions unless you choose to share them
- Private check-ins you mark as "for me only"
- Your account password or personal settings
Troubleshooting Common Issues
"Invalid Code" Error
- Double-check the code for typos (it's case-sensitive)
- Make sure you're using the latest code (codes can be regenerated)
- Verify you're both on the latest version of the app
Code Expired
Invite codes don't expire, but if one partner regenerates their code, the old one becomes invalid. Ask your partner to check their current code in Profile.
Already Paired Error
If you see "Already paired with another account," you'll need to unpair from your current partner first. See How do I unpair from my partner?
Partner Doesn't See the Pairing Screen
Make sure your partner has:
- Completed the initial onboarding
- Updated to the latest app version
- Selected the correct option (if given choices about relationship status)
Do Both Partners Need an Account?
Yes, both partners need their own Cuddle account to connect and share the experience. However, only one needs to pay for Premium.
Can I Connect Later?
Absolutely. You can use Cuddle solo as long as you want and connect with your partner whenever you're both ready. Your individual progress and responses will be saved.
